Origin
The Renaissance was one of the most prosperous periods in human history, typically thought to have originated in Italy between the 15th and 17th centuries.
​Why the Renaissance? Because it embodies the basic tenets of Humanism, which considers man the centre of the universe, as per the idea of the Renaissance man (the Universal Man) derived from Leon Battista Alberti’s notion that “a man can do all things if he will”, limitless in his capacities for development.
​Its central belief was that we should try to embrace all knowledge and develop our own abilities as fully as possible in all areas of knowledge, physical development, social and financial accomplishments, and the arts.
​Renaissance means "rebirth" in French, as it was a period of "rebirth" in science, culture and personal growth, born as a reaction to the obscurantism period of the Middle Ages in Europe, a period characterised by a strong tendency to despise human affairs and where identity was considered “corporate".
